Inscribed by author Marco Cortelazzo on verso of bound-in original cover: "Al caro Tenente Wiley / con ammirazione, riconoscenza ed affetto. - / Marco Cortelazzo / Bologna (Italy) 18.9.1946". This inscription is addressed to a Lt. R. W. Wiley, to whom several of the ephemera items are also addressed. All ephemera items are housed in a bound-in envelope except for one of the address lists, which is laid-in. Shelved in Room F.
EPHEMERA CONTENTS: Two typed address lists; three small handwritten notes; two organization membership cards; and one inscribed photograph. Address lists are creased and age toned, with some small marginal closed tears. Names and addresses appear to belong to various people associated with the I.M.I. and the Italian anti-fascist resistance during WWII, including the authors of the book, the signers of the membership cards, and notable anti-fascists Don Andrea Ghetti and Aldo Garòsci.
The three handwritten notes are on various papers, including a page from a pocket calendar and a blank prescription slip. All are lightly age toned, with some small chips along the edges. Prescription slip is creased. Two of the notes' contents consist of names and addresses much like the lists described earlier. The other note is written mostly in English, dated Christmas day 1944: "Medica Lieutenant P.O.W. / Bonanzo, Giuseppe / Via S. Francesco da Paola 37 / Torino (Italy) / Prisoner of War / Wels (Upper Austria) / 25 - XII - 1944".
The two membership cards indicate the honorary membership of Lieutenant R. W. Wiley to two post-war organizations in the Linz region of Italy. Cards show moderate age toning, with ink stamps from both organizations. The first is for his membership in the Organizzazione F.G. - I.M.I., signed by Marco Cortelazzo. The second is for the Comitato Nazionale Italiano, and is signed by Luigi Ronza; this card is inscribed on the back, with additional signatures from several members (Luigi Ronza, Luigi Guermandi, Marco Cortelazzo, and Giuseppe Bruschi). The inscription reads: "Valido per entrare in Italia e ritrovarvi molti amici riconoscenti".
The photograph black and white, lightly age toned, with faint smudging on the back. / Gino Guermandi / Linz - Giugno 1945" More
