Moderate bumping and fraying to cloth at edges and corners of boards. Mild scuffing to boards. Mild wear to edges of textblock. Previous owner's signature on front free endpaper. Age toning with minor foxing throughout textblock. First Edition Points: Two pages of ads in rear of texblock, pictorial self-endpapers in black and white, hyphen on the last of page 21 present, 12 full-color plates present coated only on one side, and about 1 3/8 inches thick. Slight imperfection to "two" in the last line of page 252 makes this an early state rather than a first. Shelved in Case 14. More

Text block has moderate wear including age toning to the edges. Tiny chip to the front hinge. Cracking to the rear hinge. Slight offsetting to the pictorial end papers. Mild wear interiorly with slight wear to few gutters and light foxing. Frontispiece. Illustrated. Color plates but "K" in "back" page 193, line 4 is undamaged. 1927-28, later printing.
