Bound in publisher's green pictorial cloth, front and rear boards are almost entirely separated from spine, spine is nearly entirely torn off with only binding remaining, front and rear boards have stains, moderate wear and fraying along the fore corners, moderate wear along the front and rear boards, and moderate wear and chipping along the edges. Textblock has stains throughout, illustration plates with red ink are bleeding through, illustration plate between pages 92-93 has tearing, bending wear along the head fore corners of pages 39-44, a tear on the fore edge of page 93 and the front end-page, a torn off tail fore corner from page 103, page 91 is almost entirely torn loose, is separating from the remaining spine, has moderate to severe wear along the edges, and moderate age-toning throughout. Contains 16 color plates throughout. Second Edition, Second State, early variant with orange crow's eye on front board; gift inscription on the front end-page, dated Dec. 26th, 1904, narrowing the date range for this state from 1903-1913 to 1903-1904.
