New York: De Witt & Davenport, 1856. First Edition. Octavo, viii, 170, [1] pages, plus five plates, of which one is laid as frontispiece. In Good condition. Bound in brown cloth with gilt titling to front board, blind tooling to boards, and gilt titling with blind tooling to spine. Spine has material loss to head, tailcap mostly torn off (endbands are missing,) cloth separating from spine in upper portion, and rubbing and scuffing throughout. Boards have bumping to corners exposing the material below, shelfwear to edges, and rubbing throughout. Text block has green endpapers; has age-toning to edges and light dust soiling to top edge; a closed tear to middle of frontispiece tissue guard and wrinkling to its edges, light scuffing throughout, and creasing to corners throughout. Ex-library with associated bookplate to front pastedown and stamp to blank side of frontispiece. Gift inscription by author dated Nov. 1856 to front flyleaf.
