LARGE WOODEN GRANARY DOOR WITH CARVED RELIEF FIGURES, WEST AFRICA
early 20th century. Large African carved wooden granary door panel, likely West Africa, featuring four relief-carved kneeling figures surrounding a central abstract motif. Hand-carved from heavy wood with a rich aged patina and extensive weathering consistent with long-term use and age. The panel displays traditional architectural construction with pegged joinery and deeply carved decorative elements characteristic of village granary and storage doors from the Sahel region. The surface exhibits areas of wear, shrinkage cracks, old insect activity, and losses that contribute to its authentic appearance. Measures something. Heavy age and weathering throughout. Multiple shrinkage cracks, surface abrasions, areas of loss, old insect wear, discoloration, and accumulations from age and use. Structurally stable for display but exhibiting the expected wear associated with an architectural object of considerable age. Surface retains an attractive aged patina.
