STANDING FEMALE ANCESTRAL FIGURE, GHANA

Ghana: 20th century. Carved wooden standing female figure with crossed hands and painted decoration. The figure wears a light-colored dress and headdress, with dark-stained facial features, arms, and legs. Executed in a stylized West African manner reminiscent of Akan/Ashanti ancestral and fertility figures of Ghana. Retains an attractive aged surface with visible wear, losses, and abrasions to the painted finish consistent with age and handling. Measures .In Good condition. Surface wear, scuffs, abrasions, paint loss, age cracks, and handling marks throughout. Stable overall with no major structural issues observed from the photographs.
