SCULPTURE OF NELSON MANDELA, HAITIAN FOLK ART

Haiti: 20th century. Signed folk art figure sculpture by artist "Victor," depicting an elderly gentleman in a bright yellow patterned shirt and red trousers. Hand-modeled in a hollow composite or clay-based material and painted in vibrant colors, the figure displays expressive facial features and strong folk-art character. Signed "Victor" and dated 1998 (appears to read '98) on the reverse. While the subject is unidentified, the figure bears a resemblance to Nelson Mandela and may have been inspired by the celebrated South African leader. Measures 5 in. x 20 in. x 4 in.
