CHIWARA WOODEN ANTELOPE SCULPTURE, DOGON OF MALI
A carved wooden antelope sculpture with an elongated split muzzle, raised head, and two upright horn-like projections. Chiwara figures are associated with agricultural symbolism, fertility, cultivation, and communal prosperity. The antelope form traditionally relates to farming, discipline, and the life-giving power of the earth. Small pierced holes along the muzzle and ears likely served for attachment, decoration, or mounting. Dimensions: Approximately 29 x 16 x 3.5 inches with the stand In Very Good condition. Light surface wear throughout, including scratches, small losses, fine cracks around the forehead, and light residue. Mounted on a later black metal stand for display.
