STANDING FEMALE FIGURE, WEST AFRICA
Early 20th century. Hand-carved standing female figure with red and black painted surface, scarification marks to the cheeks, and geometric decoration to the base. The figure displays a youthful, elongated form with expressive facial features and retains an attractive aged patina from use and handling. Mounted on a custom display stand. Believed to be colonial period; exact tribal attribution unknown; likely originating from West Africa, possibly Nigeria or neighboring Cameroon. Dimensions: Measures ~14.5 in. on 5.5 in. x 5.5 in. base Condition: Moderate surface wear. Loss of both arms. Scattered loss of paint throughout.
