CARVED WOOD ANCESTRAL FIGURE, GRASSFIELDS REGION CAMEROON
Cameroon. Early carved wooden ancestor figure from the Grassfields region of western Cameroon, possibly Tikar or Bamileke. The sculpture depicts a standing male figure with pronounced ears, crest coiffure, bent arms, and elongated torso, retaining a heavily weathered surface and rich evidence of age and use. Carved from a single piece of wood, the figure displays substantial wear, insect activity, and losses to the lower extremities consistent with long-term ritual or domestic use. Dimensions: Measures ~22 in. x 6.5 in. x 5.25 in. Condition: In Good condition overall with moderate surface wear and age cracks.
