FIGURAL WOOD SCULPTURE, KENYA

Ghana or Ivory Coast: 20th century. Striking hand-carved West African hardwood sculpture depicting two stylized seated figures arranged back-to-back upon a shared base. The work features elongated limbs, expressive faces, geometric coiffures, and a rich dark patina that highlights the sculptural form. Likely produced in the Ivory Coast or Ghana during the mid-to-late 20th century and inspired by traditional Baule carving styles. Executed from a single piece of wood with attractive age and handling wear throughout, including scattered losses to the dark finish exposing the lighter wood beneath and several age-related shrinkage cracks visible on the underside. Dimensions: Measures ~16.5 in. x 5 in. x 5 in. Condition: In Very Good condition overall with minor surface wear and age-related shrink cracks.
