CAST BRONZE WARRIOR, BENIN OF NIGERIA
Nigeria. West African lost-wax cast bronze figure depicting a standing warrior or court official holding a spear and raised hand gesture, mounted atop a hollow bell-form base. Richly detailed with elaborate headdress, beaded collar, patterned garments, and geometric decoration throughout. The hollow square base with corner loops suggests use as a ceremonial bell, shrine object, or prestige item within a traditional West African context. Displays an attractive aged patina with substantial green and brown oxidation, surface wear, and evidence of long-term age. Likely originating from Nigeria, possibly within the Benin artistic tradition, though offered as an unidentified West African bronze. A striking ethnographic and decorative object with excellent display presence. Dimensions: Measures ~16.5 in. x 5 in. x 5 in. Condition: In Very Good condition overall with minor surface wear and age cracks (visible from underneath).
