ZOOMORPHIC LIDDED VESSEL, BAMILEKE OF CAMEROON
Cameroon: Mid 20th Century. Carved hardwood zoomorphic lidded vessel, Cameroon, likely Grassfields region, 20th century. Finely carved in the form of a stylized animal with elongated snout, bared teeth, and compact four-legged body, the removable lid surmounted by a striking human face and coiffure rendered in the characteristic aesthetic of the Bamileke, Bamum, and related peoples of western Cameroon. Condition: In Good condition overall with minor surface wear and age cracks (visible from underneath).
