NOTES
Made famous by her widely-read journals which were published through out the 1960s, "House of Incest" was Anais Nin's first book. The prose poem alludes to the incestuous nature of her relationship with her father, a topic that would later be discussed in her journals. As a trailblazer in the realm of female erotica and a writer of proto-autofiction, the semi-autobiographical and taboo nature of "House of Nature" is an early example of what made Nin an unique voice in the American literary canon.
