Japan: Fukuda Hatsujirō, Late 19th Century. A Meiji-era Japanese triptych woodblock print depicts women performing dressing rituals. The artwork is part of the series “Chiyoda Inner Palace” by Yoshu Chikanobu. Published in Meiji 20 (1887) by Fukuda Hatsujirō, a Tokyo-based publisher in Kanda Ward. Signed Yōshū Chikanobu with seal. Image dimensions: approximately 28.5 x 14 in; frame dimensions: approximately 34 x 20 in. The work is presented in a gilt bamboo-form frame. Overall in Good condition. Moderate toning with scattered foxing. Notable areas of insect damage, including small losses and channels along the central fold of the two left sheets and at the upper margins. Minor wrinkling to the upper left corner. Frame shows light wear. Shelved at Dupont.
