Boards have fraying and bumping to spine ends and corners, and light shelf wear overall. Textblock has splitting to hinges, pencil marks to the front free end page, a stamp to "The Medical News No. 13" edition, small closed tears to edges of occasional page (not impacting text), light age toning, and very minimal soiling to occasional pages. William Osler (1849-1919) was a renowned Canadian physician often revered as the "Father of Modern Medicine" for his revolutionary approach to medical education. He co-founded John Hopkins Hospital, where he established the first residency program and insisted that students learn directly from seeing and talking to patients, rather than just from textbooks. He was also a prolific author, and his work “The Principles and Practice of Medicine”, became the standard global text for clinicians for decades.
