Jesuson was published as part of the Biblioteca de Chapulín series, which was a collection of classic children's literature published in Mexico in 1940s, featuring illustrated stories from renowned authors, such as Rudyard Kipling. Juan R. Campuzano won The Premio Nacional de la Secretaría de Educación Pública (Secretariat of Public Education National Prize) in 1945 for this book.
