Detroit: Maurice Serle Kaplan, 1936. Limited Edition, 1/100 copies. Octavo, [2], 26, [6] pages. In Good condition. In black paper wraps with gray titling on front cover. Light scuffing to covers. Chipping along all edges of covers, and at the head and tail of spine. Heavy splitting to front joint and hinge, with front cover nearly detached. Text block is clean, with very light wear along edges and very light age toning throughout. Inscribed in black ink by Courlander on front free endpaper: "For Admiral Bob / April 21, 1944 / Harold". Book is protected in a new archival mylar sleeve.

A very rare edition of the first published work of Harold Courlander, an award-winning, prolific novelist, folklorist, and anthropologist and an expert in the study of Haitian life. This one-act play was written while Courlander was studying at the University of Michigan, and won the prestigious Avery Hopwood award. The identity of Admiral Bob is unknown.
