Boards show moderate wear, with scuffing and faint scratching to covers. Rubbing and exposed board along all edges and at fore corners. Wear along spine and joints, with fraying at the head and tail. Text block is age toned and moderately worn along the edges. Age toned and foxed throughout. Splitting at the hinges. Elaborate ink gift inscription on half title page, dated 1879. All first edition points present: 'End of Contents' on page 14 and illustrations on pages 21, 35 and 63. Shelved in Room F.
