NOTES
USTC 615272. Basil of Caesarea (referred to here as Basil the Great) and Gregory of Nazianzus were prominent 4th century bishops and theologians whose work greatly shaped early Christian theology through their defense of the doctrine of the Trinity, opposition of Arianism, and influence on Christian monasticism. They are highly respected saints within both eastern and western Christianity today. The majority of the text in this volume is in Greek, with the first section appearing in Latin. Despite the influence of the authors, many of the epistles contained herein had not been printed prior to the publication of this book.
