Ex-Libris bookplate to front free endpaper of John Studd.

Small amount of writing inked out on first two title pages. Three words crossed out in ink on recto of A1, N3. Small hole in margin of I4.

A collection of three first editions of Fortunio Liceti's works on deformities, embryonics, and teratology.

Garrison-Morton: 534.52 for De Monstrorum Caussis. "One of the earliest classifications of deformities, Liceti’s work was still under review in works on malformation in the 19th century. Includes both real and imaginary cases. The first of many illustrated editions appeared in Padua, 1634."

'De perfecta constitutione hominis in utero' "discusses the development of a fetus based on its causes. While Aristotle had hypothesized that the creation of a fetus was dependent on male seed, Liceti argued that both male and female seed participated in creating the fetus.
