ORIGINAL 17th CENTURY HAND-COLORED MAP OF BRESCIA & THE DUCHY OF MILAN
Amsterdam: 17th Century. Engraved regional map depicting the Episcopal territory of Brescia within the Duchy of Milan, centered on Lake Como (Lago di Como) and surrounding alpine terrain. The map is finely engraved with rivers, mountain ranges, towns, and road networks, and is embellished with an elaborate hand-colored bearing the Latin title “Brescia Episcopatus Mediolani Ducatus.” The reverse features dense Latin letterpress text, headed “Brescia Comitatus et Mediolanensis Ducatus,” providing a historical and geographical description of the region, its political structure, ecclesiastical divisions, and notable cities. Presented in a wooden frame with mat and under glass (Frame: 26 x 23 in.; Print approximately 19.5 x 15 in.). In Very Good condition.
