ORIGINAL “THE REMARKABLE MR. PENNYPACKER” THEATER POSTER
1953. An original mid-century British theatre poster advertises the London production of “The Remarkable Mr Pennypacker,” a comedy by Liam O’Brien. The play was staged at the New Theatre on St. Martin’s Lane, W.C.2. Donald Albery of Donmar Productions Ltd. presented the show. The cast featured Nigel Patrick, Elizabeth Sellars, and Hugh Wakefield. Supporting cast included Helena Pickard, Noel Iliff, Jocelyn James, John Forrest, and Mike Morgan. John Fernald directed, with décor by Paul Mayo. The poster has been carefully mounted on a canvas backing by a professional, a common preservation technique that stabilizes fragile paper items, prevents further deterioration, and prepares them for long-term display. Poster measures 21 in. x 31.5 in. In Very Good condition with mild toning and minor surface abrasions. There is light creasing and scattered edge wear, most noticeable along the right lower margin.
