Leipzig: Internationaler Psychoanalytischer Verlag, 1928. First Edition, Second Printing. A collection of three items, ranging from Good to Very Good condition. Shelved in the showcase.

The first is a copy of Die Zukunft Einer Illusion Octavo, 91, [5] pages. In Good condition. Fully bound in yellow cloth, spine agetoned, lettering illegible and mostly rubbed off. Moderate shelfwear and soiling. Inscribed on the front free endpaper "To Mr. and Mrs. Wiley, as a friendly reminder of Sigm. Freud - June 1938"

The second is a one page autographed letter signed by Sigmund Freud. The letter is in Very Good condition with minimal damage and agetoning. The translated letter reads as follows:
"London, 18, 6, 1938 To Mr. and Mrs. Wiley. Dear Friends, As I am here in this beautiful and free country in safety and peace, I remember the sympathy and the helpfulness you showed me and my family during the difficult time in Vienna, and I am sending you my warmest regards. Your devoted friend, Freud."
The third is a first edition, second printing copy of Irena Wiley's Around the Globe in Twenty Years In Very Good condition with a Very Good dust jacket. Spine turquoise and brown with white and brown lettering. Jacket protected in mylar covering, price uncut: "$4.95." Minor shelfwear and soiling. Textblock clean.

NOTES

In 1938, John Wiley, American Counsel General to Austria in Vienna, telephoned his wife Irena informing her that the Gestapo were coming to arrest Dr. Freud at his apartment and instructed her to go to the apartment and declare the property as U.S. Government property. At the same time, Dr. Freud was being sheltered by other friends who assisted him in leaving Austria before he could be arrested. This sequence of events is memorialized in Irena Wiley’s autobiography “Around the Globe in Twenty Years”.
