Paneled spines with brown labels with gilt lettering and ornamentation. Boards have light plus rubbing wear to extremities, and minor chipping to some edges. Light plus bumping to corners, in some cases exposing the boards. Textblock has marbled end papers and edges, light age toning to edges, light plus to severe age toning to illustrated plates, light plus foxing and pencil marks on some pages throughout. Volume 3 has a newspaper clipping inserted between page 24-25. Volume 2 has splitting along the gutter between pages 334-335. Shelved in Room A.

NOTES

This 15 volume set appears to be a mix of volumes from earlier and later editions. A. J. Valpy first edited and published his 15 volume set in 1832-1834, titled "The Plays and Poems of Shakespeare, with a Life, Glossarial Notes [...]" with 170 illustrations from the plates in Boydell's edition. The later editions from 1848 are titled "The Plays and Poems of Shakespeare, according to the improved text of Edmund Malone, including the latest revisions with a life glossarial notes, an index [...]" including illustrations from English artists. The later edition is edited by A. J. Valpy and published by Henry G. Bohn.
