THESAURUS GRAECAE LINGUAE, AB HENRICO STEPHANO, CONSTRUCTUS [Five Volumes, in Four Books]

[Geneva]: [Henri Estienne II], [1580]. Presumed Second Issue. Folios, four volumes. In Good minus condition. Fully bound in brown leather with gilt ornamentation to the edges. Paneled spines have gilt lettering and ornamentation with moderate cracking and age toning. Missing leather along the spines heads/tails, in most cases exposing the end bands. Boards have cracking to the joints, minor tears and age toning to the surfaces, and rubbing wear and chipping along the extremities. Moderate bumping to corners, exposing the boards. Volume 4 has a significant strip of leather missing from the spine head, soiling to the front head corner, and the leather is beginning to separate from the front board. Textblocks have marbled end papers, and the bookplates of the cathedral library and George Peacock on the front pastedowns. Mild age toning and foxing throughout, stains scattered on some pages throughout. Moderate age toning along the edges of the free end pages, and speckling to edges. Volume 2 has a stain on pages 719-722, impacting some text; a tear on pages 1505-1506, not impacting text; and a tear on the rear second free end page. Text in Latin and Greek. Shelved in Room A.
