NOTES
The Aldine Press, which published this work, was established by Aldus Manutius in Venice in the year 1494. Among his many contributions to the early history of print, Aldus was the first to use what is now known as an italic typeface. Following his death in 1515, the press was fun by various members of his family. When the present work was printed in 1523, it was under the leadership of Maria, Aldus's widow, and her father, Andrea Torresano.
