Ernest Hemingway was born on July 21, 1899, in Illinois. An acclaimed American journalist, novelist, and short-story writer, he was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1954. Hemingway’s writing was influenced by his experiences as a foreign correspondent, living abroad in Paris, and his travels through Cuba and Africa. He passed away in July 1961. “In Our Time” was originally published in Paris in 1924. It was published with additional stories in 1925 in the United States. The 1925 edition of "In Our Time" was published to positive reviews and is considered one of Hemingway's masterpieces. The title is derived from the English Book of Common Prayer “Give peace in our time, O Lord”.
