NOTES
Paul Auster was born February 3, 1947 in Newark, New Jersey. Born to two Austrian Jewish parents. After graduating from Columbia University, Auster would work for a time in Paris as a translator, translating for various French poets. Following Auster's time as a translator, he would publish some of his own poetry, the first book of which was "Unearth". Published upon his return to the United States in 1974, "Unearth" was somewhat well received, but it wouldn't be until the release of the "New York Trilogy" between 1984-1985 that Auster and his works would become more widely known.
