John Green was born August 24, 1977 in Indianapolis, Indiana though raised in Orlando, Florida and Birmingham, Alabama. Looking for Alaska was Green's debut novel, and was met with critical success, winning the 2006 Michael L. Printz Award. John Green has since written 8 novels and 4 short stories, the most popular of these works being the novel 'A Fault in Our Stars', which saw a film adaptation 2 years after its publication. Green and his brother Hank have gone on to found the YouTube channels VlogBrothers, a series of vlogs each submit to one another on alternating days and Crash Course, an educational channel tackling various topics from math and science to history and philosophy. In addition to these successful channels, the brothers have founded the charity 'Project Awesome' and John Green himself has become a major advocate for global health causes, in particular working to combat tuberculosis across the world.
