NOTES
Considerably expanded from the 56-page English-language edition published in New York in 1787, where it was largely ignored by the American public. Faure's translation includes notes by de Nemours and Condorcet, along with a translation of the newly-ratified US Constitution. Stevens' work, in Faure's translation, had an enormous impact on the French political imagination in the lead-up to the French Revolution. References: Sabin 41646.
