Four vintage photos of famed racehorse Secretariat. The first is a 7” x 9” wire photo taken in May of 1973, after Secretariat’s wins at the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness and on his way to the historic Triple Crown win on June 9th. He is seen nuzzling his exercise boy. In very good- condition. There is moderate age-toning throughout, slight warping along the right edge, and light wear to the left edge. The verso has a red filing stamp, a notation in blue ink, and a pasted paper caption date-stamped “May 24 1973”. The second photo in this series is a 10” x 6.5” type 1 photograph of Secretariat at the Marlboro Cup race in 1973. In very good+ condition. There is a faint crease in the bottom left corner, and the verso is file-stamped “Sep 23 1982”. The third item is a 10.5” x 9” photo showing jockey Ron Turcotte atop Secretariat at Belmont in September 1973, just three months after Secretariat’s Triple Crown win. In very good condition. Minor warping appears near the right and left edges of the photograph, and slight age-toning in the margins near the top right edge. The verso has a pencil notation, and a now-separated pasted paper caption (indicating the photographer as “Farrell” and dating the photo to “9/21/73”). The fourth image was taken in January of 1974, after Secretariat’s retirement. It shows Secretariat being fitted for horseshoes by a blacksmith. In very good condition. This 7.5” x 9” wire photo shows slight warping near bottom edge, and minor age-toning and wear to the margins. 1933-1963. A Collection of over 120 early photographs, letters, signed photos, and ephemera related to Amelia Earhart. The collection appears to have been assembled by collector Bill Schneider from the 1930s to 1960s and then purchased by William Littlewood in the 1970s. The collection includes 1). A photo of Amelia Earhart in the Beech-Nut initialed by Amelia Earhart, accompanied by an ALS from Bill Schneider to Earhart asking for an autographed photo. The items are in a black plastic frame. 2). Four photos of the Fokker F-7 Friendship signed by Lou Gordon, the mechanic and co-pilot for the 1928 flight in which Amelia Earhart became the first woman to fly the Atlantic Ocean. 3). Seven ALS from Lou Gordon to Bill Schneider, dated: 5/1/1934, 8/20/49, 3-18-1951,1/30/1952, 9-5-1955,3/9/1957, and 10/14/1963. 4). A letter signed by Betty Chester (Earhart’s secretary) to Bill Schneider, dated 7/15/1933, with two accompanying Type 1 photos of Earhart arriving after completing the Bendix Race. The items are in a black plastic frame. 5). First flight cover carried by Earhart on her 1935 Hawaii-California flight. With typed notation: “Hawaii-California // This letter Carried By The Kindness Of Miss Amelia Earhart // Bill Schneider Jr., Rahway, New Jersey.” Accompanied by 16 photos produced by Lockheed showing images from Earhart's Hawaii-California flight. 6).First flight cover dated “1937” with text: “Amelia Earhart Completes World Flight.” 7).
