Folio; G; bound in faded red cloth, faded titling to front cover; moderate wear, including fraying to corners, spine largely detached, remnants of cloth ties to boards; With title page, 42 pages of text in German, 14 maps of the celestial sphere, 77 terrestrial maps; all celestial and 73 terrestrial maps hand-colored contemporaneously; lacking allegorical frontispiece engraved by Casper Luyken and the portrait of Charles VI in black and white; the backs of the majority of maps with a child's drawings, majority in pencil, some crayon, circa 1880, very sparse pencil to the maps themselves; some scattered repair; title page missing the lower fore corner, does not impact text; With a fully global collection of maps, including the constellations, both the Copernican and Tychonic models of the orbits, maps of both hemispheres, Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas. Maps of North America do include the names of some Native American Tribes. Interestingly, the maps are inconsistent as to whether California is an island. The title vignette is a map of the world as seen from above the north pole, includes California as an island.
