1787. One page with integral blank, (30.5x19cm), "Commonwealth of Massachusetts," November 4, 1787, appointing "Benjamin Pond . . . Quarter Master of the fifth Regiment, in the first Division of the militia in this Commonwealth comprehending the County of Suffolk." Countersigned by John Avery as secretary of the commonwealth. Docketed on the verso. On the docket is a signed statement from Colonel John Boyd, dated May 4, 1789 in Suffolk that Benjamin Pond appeared and took the Oath of Allegience as Quartermaster.
