CAMBODIAN WOODEN BUDDHA SCULPTURE
[Cambodia]. A large Cambodian wood sculpture of the Buddha's head, modified by Cambodian artist Master Pru Kear (c. 1980). In Good condition. The sculpture is divided into two parts: the head and face constitute the base, and a stylized lotus blossom ornament constitutes the top. The base has a significant vertical crack behind the figure's left ear (repaired with mortar, and possibly the addition of supplemental wood carved to match) spanning the full height of the piece. A smaller vertical crack affecting the top third of the base appears at the figure's forehead. The base has some moderate chipping along the top rim, and at the back of the head, with light plus wear overall. The interior has a hollow cavity, with residue of an antique sealant along inner rim (on which the ornament 'top' rests). The ornamented top has moderate to severe cracking, with light plus wear overall. Weight (Complete Sculpture): 85 pounds. Dimensions (Complete Sculpture): w 17 in. x h 30 in. x d 13.5 in. More
