Opera set in 1939 during the War of Resistance Against Japan (WWII) about a communist party member who works for the railroad and resists the Japanese. Includes photos of the principals in scenes from the play. Includes as foreword a letter from Chairman Mao congratulating the performers after a performance of a different production, "Driven to Join the Liangshan Mountain Rebels" in 1944.
