Some scattered foxing throughout. Lavater's name and personal motto written in his hand on title page. Previous owner's name in ink on inside of front wrap. Although aged, the paper is still flexible and the signatures are securely sewn together. This rare treatise contains 500 of Lavater's maxims on physiognomy and casuistry, an expansion on the earlier 1787 edition.
