Moderate shelf and edgewear to boards; rubbing and fraying at all edges and folds, corners bumped, significant age toning to boards, significant moisture staining to rear board and spine. Age toning to textblock, minor deterioration to rear of block, may be mouse-chewed, or moisture deterioration. Foxing to endpages, and light foxing to rest of pages. Includes two of three fold-out maps tipped in on front endpage. On 6 pages after title page are paste-down newspaper cutouts from "The North American" (Feb 22, 1846), and "The Evening Transcript" (Jan 14, 1853), and an undated, unsourced article, describing sermons given in Pennsylvania, Boston, and New York, respectively. The remaining pages are numbered square breakdowns of the blocks and lots presented in the maps. 159 pp. Shelve: CASE 4 Spine is black leather, textless.

Original three-quarter calf, brown boards, gilt spine lettering, rebacked, with original spine laid down. VG, boards rubbed, particularly at spine and corners. Some scattered foxing. Ink notation on title page: "This book corrected and revised for M.G. Emery, Alderman 4th Ward by W. Forsyth, Surveyor, 10th Feb. 1857." Facing the title page is a handwritten list of squares added or corrected, 32 squares in total. Elaborate cartographic survey of the District. Shelve in Case #1.
