One ALS on White House stationary, dated 18 July, 1918, addressed to A. S. Burleson from President Woodrow Wilson, with his signature. The letter regards two enclosed letters that "are important about the telegraph and telephone matters." This letter is attached via two rusty staples to the two referred letters, plus the envelope for the letter. One is a 3 page TLS from Clarence Mackay, President of the Postal Telegraph-Cable Company, to Wilson. The other is a carbon copy of the response Wilson sent Mackay. Also included is a seemingly unrelated 4 page ALS addressed to Burleson regarding the telegraph, dated July 13 / 18.
