Binding shows shelfwear, rubbing, and chipping, with significant cracking to joints (in spite of which binding remains stable). Marbled endpapers; ribbon bookmark sewn in. Text block edges tinted red. Scattered ink underlining and marginalia. Text block age-toned and slightly foxed. Ownership inscription reading "Langdon Lauriston Ward [Paris, July 29, 1902]" on front free endpaper. With engraved title page, head- and tailpieces, and initials. This copy is from the second of two variants printed by the famous Elzevier brothers, Bonaventura and Abraham, in 1640.
