ABRAHAM LINCOLN AUTOGRAPH NOTE SIGNED WITH MARY TODD LINCOLN SIGNATURE

Philadelphia: 1861. One single sheet of paper, measuring 6" x 9", with Abraham Lincoln's signature, dated Philadelphia, February 21, 1861. Also bears the signature of Mary Todd Lincoln, dated Philadelphia, May 11. The text in full: "Philadelphia, Feb. 21, 1861. / Mrs. James E.D. Stevens / My dear Madam / Below is my autograph according to your request. / Yours truly / A. Lincoln." Mary Todd Lincoln signs directly beneath: "Mary Lincoln / Philadelphia May 11th." The recipient adds a note: "[Written by President Lincoln and Mrs. Lincoln, when the former was on his way to Washington to be inaugurated the first time. The inauguration took place March 4th.]" Note Mary Todd signature is dated May 11; either the First Lady added her signature at a later time, or used an incorrect date. The left edge of the page was removed from an autograph album. The paper is gently toned, darker at the edges.

One single sheet of paper, measuring 6" x 9", with an Abraham Lincoln Autograph Note Signed, dated Philadelphia, February 21, 1861. In addition there is the signature of Mary Todd Lincoln Signature, dated Philadelphia, May 11. The text in full: "Philadelphia, Feb. 21, 1861. / Mrs. James E. D. Stevens / My dear Madam / Below is my autograph according to your request. / Yours truly / A. Lincoln." Mary Todd Lincoln signs directly beneath: "Mary Lincoln / Philadelphia May 11th."; The recipient adds a note: "[Written by President Lincoln and Mrs. Lincoln, when the former was on his way to Washington to be inaugurated the first time. The inauguration took place March 4th.]" This note is confusing, because Mary Todd has dated her signature May 11. Either the First Lady added her signature at a later time, or used an incorrect date; The left edge of the page is a bit rough, in that it was removed from an autograph album; the paper is gently toned, a bit darker at the edges; shelved case 0 or 5.
