The illustrations in this Luther Bible are the work of Tobias Stimmer or a member of his workshop. Stimmer, like Holbein and Urs Graf, was Swiss by birth and perhaps the most interesting successor to Durer of his generation Born in 1534(after Durer's death), Stimmer produced several sets of designs for the Bible which were greatly admired by artists of later generations. Peter Paul Rubens had high praise for Stimmer.;
