NOTES
Delaunay-Turk and her husband, Robert Delaunay, were original practitioners of the Orphism movement, an artistic movement born in Paris in the early 1910s, and practiced a specific strand of the movement known as Simultanism. Their aesthetic choices privileged bright colors, rhythm, and motion over form. Delaunay-Terk’s work covered a range of media, from painting to interiors, set designs, fashion and theatrical costumes. She received exhibitions at numerous prominent national museums in western Europe and North America, and her work remains in many of their collections.
