The importance of Diderot’s Encyclopedie as a revolutionary text is in part due to its embracing of an unprecedented range and depth of subjects. Through this, both the text and illustrations provide valuable insights into the materials and methodologies used by the artists and craftsmen of Diderot’s day. These details were rarely recorded, which makes glimpses captured in the Encyclopedie entries uniquely important and fascinating. Condition: Good.
