NOTES

A fine example and survivor of this rare edition. The second printing, the first being in London in 1639. The original being printed as "The Bloody Brother." Also the first to list Fletcher as the author. On page 65 is Shakespeare's song "Take, oh take those lips away." The play was written in collaboration with John Fletcher, Philip Massinger, Ben Jonson, and George Chapman, literally a who's who of the great playwrights and poets of the time. This second edition is believed to have derived from a prompt book from a staging of the play. Fans of the History Channel series "Vikings" will recognize Rollo as the ruler of Paris and the brother of Ragnar Lodbrok.;
