Jean-Baptiste Deperthes (1761-1833) was landscape painter (student of Valenciennes in Paris), musician and writer. This work, of which the author paid tribute to the Academy of Fine Arts, "earned him a praiseworthy article of Quatremere de Quincy in the Journal des savants."
