Sewn gatherings in printed boards with pasted cloth spine: internally in G+ to VG- condition, pages beginning to tone at margins but paper is sound, clean & apparently unmarked; spine split through & pages loose but boards are undamaged & all contents (incl. advertising) are present. Could readily be recased with no loss of original material. Only one copy of this edition found in institutional collection (Cambridge) -- this is the true first ed. of the "Handbook," claims for the 1922/1923 edition notwithstanding.
