Bound in full brown calf with gilt ruling and blind tooling to boards, and gilt ornamentation and red leather labels bearing gilt titling to spines. Both volumes with the bookplate of Alexander Anderson to front pastedown and the bookplate of George Sherriff (possibly the Scottish explorer and botanist of this name, who was British vice-consul in Kashgar between 1927 and 1931) to front free endpaper. Minor scuffing to leather along spines. Some scattering spotting to front and rear boards of both volumes. Volume I features fold-out map tipped in after contents, with closed tears to edges near gutter, notably on bottom edge of map. Edges of textblock speckled. PH consignment. Shelves in Case 9.
