Spines with gilt rules, ornaments, and lettering. Some mild shelfwear and rubbing to binding. The first two signatures in Volume I partly loose. Mild to heavy foxing through all volumes, ranging from non-existent to detrimental. Illustrated with all 27 hand-colored engraved plates by Alexander Lawson after Titian R. Peale, A. Rider, and 1 after J.J. Audubon. Plates generally bright and clean. 26 plates with tissue guards. Plate 18 is lacking the tissue guard, with offsetting to the facing page as expected. First Edition, Second Issue of volume one, with the Carey, Lea & Carey imprint. FS consignment. Shelved in Case 4.
