NOTES

Thor Heyerdahl (1914-2002) was a Norwegian adventurer, anthropologist, ethnographer, and scholar. His most famous project was his 1947 Kon-Tiki expedition, for which he sailed across the Pacific Ocean in an ancient-style raft to prove contact could have been made between ancient cultures in Asia and South America.
